£10 to £1000 Challenge: Attempt 9, Week 2 Betting Tips

Keep the faith is a phrase often well-worn in sporting circles, and it’s a mantra that hopefully followers of this column have kept close to heart of late. After a couple of dry runs, we’re back out of the gate and ready to go deep into another £10 to £1000 Challenge.

Here’s a recap of last week’s results:

  • Bet 1: Brentford vs Rotherham: Over 1.5 Goals – it wasn’t pretty at times, but Brentford secured a 4-2 victory and Bet 1 landed with ease.
  • Bet 2: Espanyol vs Osasuna: Espanyol/Draw Double Chance – a comfortable 3-0 win for Espanyol over injury-ravaged Osasuna.
  • Bet 3: Lyon vs Metz: Over 1.5 Goals – Nice and easy: Lyon cruised home with a resounding 5-0 victory.
  • Bet 4: Fiorentina vs Torino: Fiorentina Over 0.5 Goals – this one got home with Fiorentina eventually having to settle for a 2-2 draw.

So on we go with the next set of £1 to £1k Challenge betting tips:

Bet 5: Bordeaux vs Lyon: Bordeaux Over 0.5 Goals – £17.62 at 2/7

Friday March 3, 19:45

Bordeaux are flying at present with four wins in their last six, in which they have blitzed 13 goals. They’ve bagged six in their last 180 minutes against two half-decent outfits in Lille and Guingamp.

Lyon are better than those sides but are still capable of awful defending: they shipped two each against Lille, Guingamp and Dijon, and with that trio in the bottom half of the table and Bordeaux flying high in fifth, we’ll assume the hosts have an excellent chance of netting on home soil.

Bet 6: Daryl Gurney to beat Ryan Palmer – £22.65 at 1/9

Saturday March 4, 13:30

A quick stop-off over at the UK Open Darts here as Daryl Gurney, the world number 21, meets part-timer Ryan Palmer in the first round.

Context is everything in darts and Palmer, who just about crept into the tournament via the qualifying system, has never played in a PDC major before. Gurney reached the quarter finals of the World Championships in December and a semi-final of a Players’ Championship event as recently as the weekend just gone.

Bet 7: Werder Bremen vs Darmstadt: Werder Over 0.5 Goals – £25.17 at 1/8

Saturday March 4, 14:30

Given Werder Bremen’s firepower in front of goal you always fancied them to string a few results together, and so it has proved with back-to-back wins springing them clear of the Bundesliga dropzone.

Those victories came at Mainz and Wolfsburg – not easy places to go, and a return to home soil will suit an outfit that has now scored in an incredible 91% of league matches this term.

It’s fair to describe Darmstadt as awful on the road; they’ve lost all ten of their away matches after all, with a goal difference of -20. Werder should win comfortably here.

Bet 8: Torino vs Palermo: Over 1.5 Goals – £28.32 at 2/11

Sunday March 5, 14:00

Over 2.5 Goals has landed in 17/26 of Torino’s matches this term with Over 1.5 hitting the mark in 21/26, and recently they have been up to their old tricks.

A 5-3 win over Pescara a fortnight ago has since been backed by a 1-4 loss at Roma and a 2-2 draw at Fiorentina.

Palermo aren’t very good, losing 17/26 this term, and yet somehow they come to life away from home: they have netted 66% of their goal tally away from home (15 of 22). Mind you, they are conceding at more than 2.00 goals per game on their travels as well, so we’re expecting plenty of goalmouth action here.
