Over the last decade, we would go as far as saying that few bookmakers have made as big an improvement as 888. The company were much better known for their work in online poker and in their casino, but now they are one of the best sportsbooks in the industry, at least, in our opinion.
The bookmaker is able to offer a good range of markets, but we think it’s their pricing that has been the standout feature. As a result, they are one of the bookmakers of choice for accumulator bettors and have been able to push companies such as BetVictor and Betfair, two operators famed for their consistent record of good pricing, right to their limits.
Another reason why we think they work so well is that the site is always changing. The latest design had allowed for a much better user experience and their switch to mobile betting now gives them a greater range of access for most people.
Sign up as a new customer and use the code 30f when you make your first deposit and you can get £30 in free bets. You can qualify by making your first wager £10 or more at odds of at least 1/2 within 30 days of registering. Free bets will be awarded as two free £10 bets and a free £10 mobile bet, all three are valid for 7 days.
About 888 Sport
888Sport is part of the 888 Holdings group and was launched in 2008. Since then the company has probably been one of the biggest success stories in terms of how quickly the sportsbook has grown and just the sheer scale of their operation these days. They are based out of Gibraltar and this has been their home since they started out.
What 888Sport have done well is market their brand. They have sponsored some massive sporting vents over the years including the World Grand Prix in snooker, Giro d’Italia in cycling, countless horse races and they also have dozens of associations with major sporting teams, the larger ones include Birmingham City, Sevilla and Nottingham Forrest.
Their sports on offer at 888sport will literally rival just about anyone’s in the betting industry. Like most, there is a huge emphasis on both football and horse racing, with the vast majority of markets being on these sports. But, outside of these the likes of tennis, greyhound racing, golf, cricket and darts all seem to have almost cult followings.
The online bookmaker has been criticised in the past for not including a strong enough market coverage for each sport, but from our latest findings it’s clear to see that they have addressed this issue and we found that there were very few, if any markets that we would highlight as ‘missing’.
The VIP section at 888Sport is one of the most intriguing things about the bookmaker in our opinion. Whilst VIP sections are usually set up just for high rollers, it is possible as an average Joe to gain access, offering up some lucrative offers, prizes and invitations to exclusive 888Sport events.
The pricing structure has to have been their biggest improvement over the last decade or so. When they first sprung on to the scene one of the main reasons why so few people used the site is because of their almost terrible pricing structure. These days they are vastly improved, and comparing them with other sites will emphasise just how competitive they have become these days.
Ease of use
888Sport have literally just changed the layout of their website within the couple of weeks leading up this being written, and we must say what a difference it has made. The previous design was very dated and to be honest, wasn’t all that nice to use. But, the fresh, modern feel that you now get makes it easy to navigate between sports and markets, whilst the homepage gives a nice overview of events that are currently taking place or are upcoming.
There is no limit on the max amount you can bet with 888Sport, but there is a limit on the maximum that can be paid out from the bookmaker. This limit is set to £250,000 per bet, but it does depend on which sport you are betting on. For example, soccer hits the £250,000 limit, but darts is capped at £100,000.
It is worth noting that should an amount be wagered online excessively high for a certain bet then 888Sport may take a little longer to process the bet. This time is spent working out with their traders if they want to take a wager of that size for this specific bet. You usually get a response in just a minute or two, but sometime can take up to 15 minutes.
What’s good about 888Sport is the majority of their banking options don’t include withdrawal limits. But, any transaction that uses Visa does, and it’s £25,000 per day. It does state that if you want to withdraw more than this then you can contact customer support, so we’d assume there could even be ways around this limit, but we can’t say 100%.

It could be argued that 888 are better known for their casino than their sportsbook, but what we do know is that they are able to offer up one of the best in the world. The casino is pretty unique in that they design and make a lot of their own in-house casino games, along with utilising the hold of other gaming developers such as Random Logic, Cryptologic and Blueprint Gaming.
Even the companies that they do use are some of the smaller ones in the industry, which means the range of games that you can play is about as unique as you will find. They aren’t all necessarily the best in the business, but they are different, which is something that most casinos aren’t able to offer.
Similarly, to that of the casino, the poker room runs on its own network as well, 888 Poker Network. They’ve been doing so for years and once upon a time this network was one of the biggest in the industry. Today, that’s sadly not the case, but they are able to offer a wide range of games to players from all over the world. In fact, to give you an idea of the scale, the poker is available in 18 different languages.
What we did like about the 888 Poker room is the customisation and design of the tables. We won’t say it’s the best, but coupled with the range of games and tournaments that are on offer, we think it offers up a great package.
888 Sport Company Info
Where are 888Sport based?
888Sport are truly a multi-national brand. They hold licenses across the UK, Gibraltar, Spain, Italy, Denmark, Ireland, Romania, Nevada, New Jersey and Delaware. But, the head offices for the company are situated in Gibraltar.
However, we do know that they have at least one office within the UK and they use it to operate a lot of their customer service and also as a base for foreign meetings and transactions.
Where were they founded?
888 has been about since 1997 and in that time managed to cement themselves as one of the leading online betting brands in the world. The company started life as a casino brand before then including online poker by 2002.
It wasn’t until 2008 when they first started to break into the online sports betting sector and then about a year later started to buy up some of the most successful bingo brands. What’s been interesting about the company is that they have been able to split into two sections; B2B and B2C.
B2B essentially is the playing part of the business, so your sports, casino and poker, and the B2C is their software sector, which allows other companies to use the 888 software for their own brands.
What are their main markets?
888Sport probably accept the largest number of players from the most amount of countries that we have seen. There are some major countries that aren’t allowed on site such as Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Hong Kong, Spain, Turkey and USA.
Their main market these days has to be that of the UK with the Scandinavian countries following closely behind that.
Are they part of a group?
888Sport are part of Cassava Enterprises, who then in turn are a subsidiary of 888 Holdings PLC. It’s actually worth noting that if you make a deposit at 888 using your debit or credit card then it will show up as being from/to Cassava Enterprise Limited.
The group are pretty big these days and include over 30 additional casinos to 888. These companies are all very different from one and other though, which is good we think. It is worth mentioning that some of the bonuses are blanketed, meaning that if you’ve cleared from a related brand, you may struggle with other brands under the Cassava name. What we have found is that these rules are pretty inconsistent, so we highly recommend you check each prior to claiming any bonus.
Do they sponsor anyone?
888 have always been keen to get into the sponsorship sector. At one point in 2016 the company were principal sponsors of four football teams within the English football league. At the time of writing they are main sponsors for both Nottingham Forrest and Birmingham City, both established English Championship teams.
