Liverpool welcome Arsenal to Anfield in Sunday’s big Premier League game and it should be a real cracker, just in time for Christmas.
Neither side are in great form but three points here could really get their seasons going, especially if it was the start of a strong festive run of results. Both managers are under pressure too, however, and similarly defeat and a bad run over Christmas could, perhaps, leave either boss looking for a new job in 2015.
Liverpool got a much-needed win in midweek at Championship high-flyers Bournemouth and Brendan Rodgers will have been delighted with Raheem Sterling’s performance. However, whilst a League Cup semi final is great, they are just 11th in the league, which is simply unacceptable after spending more than £120m in the summer. They are not scoring enough and, as with last season, are conceding far too many and Arsenal will look to cash in on that latter weakness.
Things are not all rosy at the Emirates however and being sixth after 16 games was not in the pre-season plans of Arsene Wenger. They too look poor at the back, whilst they will miss Aaron Ramsey, who is injured, here. On the goalscoring front things look good, however, with Alexis Sanchez continuing his brilliant form, Danny Welbeck scoring and Olivier Giroud returning from injury with goals aplenty. Arsenal have not been great on the road but they will have to fancy their chances here.
If you fancy a cheeky bet or two on this massive game then Bet365 could be the bookie to use. They have a £50 risk free bet on offer for this game that can almost be viewed as a “buy one, get one free deal”. Place a bet before kick off and then your first in-play bet on the game is risk free, because if the in-play wager loses, Bet365 will refund your stake – as cash not free bets – up to the size of your largest pre-match bet (maximum £50).
This is a popular style of offer that Bet365 pulls out a few times a season and it is well worth a look, mainly because the refund is, as said, in the form of cash and is normally back in your account shortly after the game, ready to withdraw or to use on another bet.
This game is really close to call and the match odds reflect that, with Arsenal narrow favourites at 8/5. However, we think the safest bet here is to back both teams to score, given that neither can defend! Odds of 4/7 may look short but if you place £50 before kick-off and then a further £50 just after kick off you’d be looking at a very nice return of £157.14 (assuming the same odds for the in-play bet). Given your risk is only £50 that’s a brilliant value bet and a low-risk way to profit from this promotion.
