Chelsea travel to PSG as the Champions League returns with a bang this week and the Blues will be hoping to get an away goal at least to set things up nicely for the return leg.
Last season this duo met in the Champions League too, in the quarters, and Chelsea scraped through on away goals having lost the first leg in Paris 3-1 before winning the return 2-0. They will hope to do better this time around, and with the Premier League looking very much there for the taking they could yet be on for a remarkable treble, with a League Cup final already in the diary.
Chelsea have no real injury concerns, although Oscar may well miss out. For big European games like this Jose Mourinho often favours a slightly more defensive midfield and so Ramires may play alongside Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas in midfield. Mourinho’s opposite number, Laurent Blanc, in contrast, faces a mounting injury crisis and could be without seven key players, although his main attacking talents, including Zlatan, are available.
On paper it should be a close match but the injuries and Chelsea’s superior domestic form do suggest the visitors could do the business in Paris. Mourinho would no doubt settle for a score draw and whilst he may look to keep things tight, given the injuries sustained recently by PSG we think he may instead go for the jugular.
If he does then online bookie Coral could pay dearly for their Champions League promotion that offers new and existing customers a £2 free bet for every goal scored in this game. To be eligible for the free bets just place a £10 bet on any market on the game at odds of 1/2 or higher, or 1.5 for those who like to work in decimal odds.
It’s a simple offer and, with free bets that are issued not long after the game ends and that are valid for more than a month, Coral is definitely making things very easy for their customers.
We expect at least a couple of goals in the game and with a likely insurance policy of the free bets to fall back on it could be worth taking a chance on an outsider here. If you choose to play the offer that way then backing 2-2 or 2-1 to Chelsea at long odds look good.
Alternatively you could play things safe and back under 2.5 goals at 6/10, safe in the knowledge that if your bet loses you’ll be assured of at least £6 in free bets. Overall our betting tip is simple though: Chelsea to win at odds of 7/4 with bonus free bets to come if Costa and co really produce their best form and give a weakened PSG side a good hammering.
