The Champions League reaches the quarter final stage this week and Betfair are giving you a great insurance offer for your bets on the game of the round, PSG v Barcelona. And you even get to pick the refund trigger!
If you place a pre-match bet on the PSG v Barcelona match with Betfair on one of the correct score, anytime correct score, or first/last/anytime goalscorer markets, you’ll be given a refund of up to £25 if your bet loses but your trigger occurs.
The triggers to choose from are as follows: 1. Barcelona win and both teams score; 2. Lionel Messi scores first; 3. Barcelona are winning 1-0 at half time; 4. Both teams score in the 1st half; or 5. There are no goals in the second half.
So what trigger should you pick and what bet should you place? Well, it’s up to you of course, but given the attacking prowess of both sides we are certainly going to ignore trigger number five. Our preference would be for Barca to win and both teams scoring as the home side will know they need to put everything into winning the game to give themselves a chance of getting through after the return leg in Spain; this will simply play into the hands of the visitors, however, and we fancy the Catalan side to win 3-1 or 3-2.
In terms of the initial bet to place – which will hopefully negate the need for a trigger in the first place – we would opt for Barcelona to lead 2-0 in the anytime correct score market at decent odds of 19/10. With Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez having formed a formidable triumvirate up top, we just feel the visitors will have too much for PSG, and though the home side should get a consolation goal, backing the visitors to be 2-0 up at some point looks the bet to take.
