So here we are: we started with a mere tenner and are now up to £53.48 following 12 consecutive winning bets.
Now could be a time to cash out your original £10 investment so that whatever happens in the coming weeks you can break even at worse; although, secretly, we’re hoping to keep this winning run going for a while longer yet.
Anyway, here’s a recap of last week’s selections and how they fared:
- Bet 9: San Marino vs Germany: Germany to Win to Nil – you probably know the drill here. An 8-0 win for Germany and perhaps the easiest selection we will ever make in this challenge.
- Bet 10: MK Dons vs Walsall: Walsall +2.25 Asian – a 1-1 draw secured by the Saddlers here as they made a mockery of their pre-match price of 4/1.
- Bet 11: Michael Gerwen to beat Martin Adams – we had secretly hoped that Martin ‘Wolfie’ Adams would put in a good performance following his return from cancer treatment; just not quite good enough as he succumbed to a 2-5 defeat to MVG.
- Bet 12: Switzerland to beat the Faroe Islands – the Faroes put a good shift in on Sunday evening, but happily they went down 2-0 to the Swiss as the challenge rumbled on in fine fettle.
Let’s take our £53.48 then and see how we fare this week:
Bet 13: Stoke City +1.25 Handicap against Bournemouth – £53.48 at 1.115
Saturday November 19, 15:00
Stoke City would not have wanted the international break to come after a fine run of six matches unbeaten, but even so they should still have the reserves of confidence in place to satisfy our handicap requirements against a Bournemouth side yet to win away from home this term.
The Cherries are a fine side on their day, but their away form – W0 D2 L3 GF3 GA10 – gives little encouragement to those heading north for this one. Stoke have won by a two goal margin in three of their last four starts – surely the +1.25 handicap is insurmountable.
Bet 14: PSV Double Chance vs Willem II – £59.63 at 1/9
Saturday November 19, 18:45
An element of risk is attached to Double Chance betting of course, but PSV – with just one defeat in twelve, should surely cover that mark against a Willem II outfit with just two wins in their dozen outings.
PSV are strong away from home, more to the point, with five wins and a draw from six and a goal difference of +13. Willem II have won just one of six at home with a goal difference of -5. Come on lads, play along this week.
Bet 15: Hoffenheim Double Chance against Hamburg – £66.26 at 1/6
Sunday November 20, 14:30
Hamburg, yet to win in ten Bundesliga matches and with a goal difference of -19 (just four goals scored), will have to set up the barricades to come away from Hoffenheim with even a point….won’t they?
The hosts are yet to lose this term, and with five wins in their last six matches surely they can claim at least a draw against hapless Hamburg. The visitors, with one goal in five on the road, will need to have had a miraculous international break to bring us down here.
Bet 16: Ryan Day to beat Jimmy White – £77.70 at 2/9
Tuesday November 22, 14:30
A slight departure from the football to take in the UK Championship Snooker, and a first round tie that looks a formality for Welshman Ryan Day.
In the past few months Day has beaten a litany of players in the world’s top 16, including Neil Robertson, Barry Hawkins and Stephen Maguire, and just last week at the Northern Ireland Open he took former world finalist Marco Fu to a last frame decider.
Jimmy ‘Whirlwind’ White, much beloved by fans of the green baize across the globe, is naturally past his best at the age of 54, and has lost five of his last six matches.
