£10 to £1000 Challenge: Attempt 4, Week 5 Betting Tips

And it goes on: bet numbers 13, 14, 15 and 16 were all successful last week, and the kitty now stands at an agreeable £94.97.

Starting with a humble tenner, our efforts so far replicate the winnings of a 9/1 selection landing; it’s not hard to see why ‘slow and steady’ is the mantra of many a smart punter.

Here’s a recap of last week’s selections:

  • Bet 13: Stoke City +1.25 Handicap against Bournemouth – we were surprised to see Stoke lost this match in truth, but the one-goal margin of defeat was still covered by our Asian Handicap pick.
  • Bet 14: PSV Double Chance vs Willem II – a straightforward enough 0-0 draw was enough to see Bet 14 land.
  • Bet 15: Hoffenheim Double Chance against Hamburg – Hoffenheim led 2-1 with half an hour to play against bottom side Hamburg; the underdogs equalised to nick a point. Disappointment for Hoffenheim, still joy for us.
  • Bet 16: Ryan Day to beat Jimmy White – Day actually went 0-1 down against the Whirlwind in snooker’s UK Championship, but we weren’t worried (honest!). The Welshman stormed back for a comfortable 6-2 victory.

Okay, let’s go again. We can handsomely break the £100 mark with a series of canny selections this week, so let’s make it happen.

Bet 17: Gary Anderson to beat John Henderson – £94.97 at 1/7

Friday November 25, 21:30

Sport is about timing and momentum; if you have both on your side then you can achieve great things. The timing of the darts Player Championship Finals is interesting as it is the last event prior to the World Championships in the middle of December. That means the big names bring their A-game.

It was this very tournament that set Gary Anderson on the path to glory in 2014. He won here in Minehead before following up with glory in the biggest show of them all a few weeks later, so he clearly has fond memories of the place. As he looks to win a historic third consecutive world title, he will be looking for a decent runout this weekend once again. He is getting used to wearing glasses on stage and his new darts, and should have far too much firepower for the solid but laconic Henderson.

Bet 18: Lincoln City Double Chance against Maidstone United – £108.54 at 1/7

Saturday November 26, 15:00

The Double Chance market has been kind to us in this 16 bet winning streak, so let’s go in again with Lincoln City, second in the National League, as they welcome eighteenth-placed Maidstone to Sincil Bank.

Lincoln are absolutely flying at the moment: they’ve scored 15 goals in their last four matches, and beaten league leaders Forest Green, trounced mid-table Chester 5-2 and hammered York 4-1 in the space of a fortnight. Get the Imps on side against a Maidstone outfit that has lost three on the bounce; two of which to teams in the bottom five of the table.

Bet 19: Palermo vs Lazio: Over 0.5 Second Half Goals – £124.05 at 2/11

Sunday November 27, 11:30

You’ll have to be up bright and early for Serie A’s morning kick-off: we should be rewarded handsomely, however.

Goals have followed these two sides around recently, with 12/12 combined witnessing both teams scoring and an average of 3.10 goals per 90 minutes in Lazio’s matches and 4.00 in Palermo’s – who have suffered six defeats on the bounce, no less.

Bet 20: Nice Double Chance against Bastia – £146.60 at 1/7

Sunday November 27, 16:00

We return to a team that has brought us plenty of success thus far in this challenge: the underrated Nice, they who have lost just one of thirteen Ligue 1 outings this term.

On Sunday they host a Bastia side without a win since September 24 – surely they won’t upset the odds here?
