Live in play sports betting winner looking for fast withdrawals

In this high-tech day and age, we expect our online transactions to be completed instantly. In fact, we demand it.

When it comes to depositing into a betting account, payments are typically concluded immediately, so you can begin placing your bets straight away.

But when the time comes to withdraw any winnings that you may have made, sometimes the process can be frustratingly slow – especially when compared to deposits.

There can be some administrative reasons for that, but in truth the individual bookmaker – and the payment method you have selected – are also factors behind cash-out speed.

In this article, we examine anything and everything to do with fast withdrawals. What are the swiftest payment methods? What factors can slow down a withdrawal? And are there any betting sites that offer instant payouts?

Fastest Withdrawal Bookmakers in 2026

Betfred - From Just 4 Hours

Withdraw via Debit Card, Apple Pay or Instant Banking

Betfred are one of the quicker high street bookies, offering withdrawals with processing times from just four to six hours. The fastest withdrawal options are Debit Cards (4 hours) with Apple Pay just taking slightly longer at around 6 hours.

Bank transfers made via instant banking also take 6 hours, but standard BACs transfers take a bit longer, so it is worth using the Instant Banking option if your bank supports it.

There are no charges for any withdrawal method, and payments will show up on your bank or debit card statement under the name "Betfred".

Ladbrokes - Instant Withdrawals Via Some Methods

Withdraw in Cash Via Ladbrokes Shops

Ladbrokes are leveraging their position on the high street to offer the option to withdraw instantly in cash from any of their branches. To be eligible, you'll need to have registered for a Club Ladbrokes card (formally known as "The Grid") and link it to your online account.

Another option for speedy withdrawals is to withdraw via instant banking, which Ladbrokes claims to take place instantly without any additional processing times.

Other withdrawal methods do take a bit longer compared to some bookies though, with eWallets taking 8 hours and debit cards taking 1 to 3 days.

What are the Fastest Deposit Methods When Betting?

Instant banking transfer from betting site

There is no specific timeframe for each payment method. Your choice of bookmaker will ultimately determine your payout speed – some pride themselves on paying out quickly; others… not so much.

But if you were seeking a general guide of what to expect, the below can be used as a rough approximation:

  • Visa – Couple of minutes to a few hours
  • Mastercard – 1-3 days
  • Instant Banking – From instant to a few hours
  • Bank Transfer – 1-5 days
  • PayPal – Couple of minutes to a few hours
  • Skrill – Couple of minutes to two hours
  • Neteller – Couple of minutes to 1-2 hours
  • Apple Pay – Couple of minutes up to five business days
  • Google Pay – A few hours to five business days
  • In Shop – Instant (unless there’s a queue)

These generalised timings may be frustrating, but we can only give you a guide – as mentioned earlier, it’s the individual betting site that will, to some extent, dictate how quickly (or not) your withdrawal is processed and paid.

Can I Withdraw My Online Winnings In a Betting Shop?

Not all online betting sites have high street betting shops that you can frequent.

But some do, such as Betfred, Ladbrokes and William Hill, and these brands do let you collect your online winnings from your local shop.

William Hill, for example, operate their PLUS card system. This offers a range of benefits, including the ability to perform a range of actions that connect your online account with a physical presence.

For instance, you can cash out online bets in a William Hill shop, getting paid in cash via your PLUS card. You can place bets in-store using your online balance, track bets placed in a shop via the PLUS app and, pertinent to this article, withdraw online funds in person.

These withdrawals are completed instantly in the time it takes the cashier to serve you, so represents one of the speediest ways to collect your winnings.

But it should be noted that there are some limitations to this system, including maximum payout limits: £750 per day and £2,500 per week (note that these amounts are subject to change).

As mentioned, other brands operate these ‘online to physical’ withdrawals via a card or other system, with some examples provided on this very page.

Why Is My Betting Account Withdrawal Taking So Long?

Man waiting for withdrawal from betting site

There can be two reasons why betting account withdrawals are slower than expected: an issue with the payment provider or due to your bookmaker’s internal processes.

The latter is the more likely of the two. Each betting site has what could be described as an internal processing period, in which withdrawal requests sit in a folder waiting to be actioned. These can, in some cases, be delayed due to internal reviews taking place.

If you request a payout via bank transfer, there’s another factor to take into consideration: weekends and bank holidays.

Withdrawals can get snarled up in a queue during these times, with little in the way of movement. So, if you action a payment request on the Friday evening, there’s a chance that it could be delayed until Monday morning at the earliest.

Another possible reason for a sluggish payout is KYC, which is an abbreviation of Know Your Customer. These are the identity checks that a betting site is legally obligated to perform before it can action your withdrawal.

This is often true for first withdrawals, so you can speed up the process by making sure you complete your verification before asking for your cash out. You can usually do this via your account dashboard, providing photos of your ID (passport, driving licence etc) and proof of address (bank statement, utility bill, phone bill etc).

One other possibility: you’ve fallen foul of your bookmaker’s closed loop system. This dictates that you must make a withdrawal using a payment method that you have previously deposited into your account with.

If you don’t do this, there could be a delay while a) the betting site recognises the error, or b) they verify your new payment method.

If none of these possibilities seems relevant to your case, maybe the bookmaker is just on the slow side.

Do Any Betting Sites Pay Out Withdrawals Instantly?

Some bookmakers do provide instant payouts.

This typically takes the form of PayPal and Apple Pay withdrawals, where your money appears almost instantly within your chosen option.

There is a newer payment method that by its very nature facilitates rapid payouts. This is instant bank transfer, with withdrawals processed instantly and – depending on your banking provider – appearing within your account in a matter of minutes.

However, it’s recommended that you consider all of the terms and conditions associated with instant bank transfers, as this payment option can ‘penalise’ you with transaction fees.

Speed or Convenience?

Speed is of course one of the key factors in choosing a payment method.

But there are other variables to consider as well, with convenience high up on the list. Seek out those payment methods, such as PayPal and Apple Pay, that can be actioned with a single click transaction – that saves you the hassle of having to dig out debit card details, for example.

Remember as well that payment methods generally have different minimum withdrawal amounts. This is generally £10 across the board, but some options at some bookmakers allow for £5 withdrawals – something that will appeal to some punters.

At the other end of the spectrum is the maximum withdrawal. This can be significantly different for each payment method; indeed, limits can range from £2,000 with Apple Pay to £100,000 for bank transfer.

Hopefully, one day, you will get to test out these upper limits!
